The Coffey County Libraries’ Summer Reading Program Has Come to a Close!

As summer winds down, we reflect on all that we’ve learned—and one thing’s for sure: a “summer reading program” is no longer just about reading. It’s about community, creativity, connection, and fun!

Our public libraries continue to be vibrant spaces filled with opportunity. While reading remains at the heart of what we do, this summer proved that libraries offer so much more. From foam parties to hemp tattoos, and even a visit from the zoo—yes, we had that too! There were make-and-take crafts we couldn’t wait to do, and ice cream sundaes for you and you and you! 🍦

We explored new and unique programs—Sound Bath Yoga, anyone? Had you heard of that? I hadn’t, but next time, I’ll be bringing my mat!

Lunch was served to every child who stopped by. Why in the library, you ask? Because we love children—that’s why.

We wrapped it all up with a splash at the pool—what better way to end a season full of color, joy, and imagination?

This year’s theme was “Color Our World,” and color it we did. We found that stories hold every shade imaginable, and when we read, we become more vibrant, more thoughtful, and more connected.

After such a full and fabulous summer, it’s time for a well-earned rest. With school starting and fall around the corner, we’re already looking forward to welcoming you back to your local branch.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Summer Reading Program. And a huge shout-out to all of our incredible Coffey County Library branches—your passion, creativity, and commitment to serving your communities truly go the extra mile every single day.

See you soon—and until then, keep reading and keep coloring your world. 🌈📚
